Chelmsford has been named in The Sunday Times Guide 2014 as one of the best places to live in Britain for education. Not only is it one of the few counties in England to have kept its grammar schools, King Edward VI and Chelmsford County High School for Girls are also among the top 20 ranked state secondary schools in the country.

Three New Schools for Beaulieu

Beaulieu will not only benefit from the established network of schools in Chelmsford, it will also see the introduction of two new primary schools and a new secondary school for the benefit of Beaulieu residents and wider community.

These brand new educational facilities will strive to reach the same excellent standards of existing schools across the city.

Essex County Council gave the green light to create a new 1,200-place secondary school at Beaulieu, as part of the development of the county ís first ever all-through school. The proposed new school will provide an initial 900 secondary school places from September 2019, growing to 1,200 in future years.

Together with the adjoining 420-place primary school and 56-place Early Years building for pre-school children, which have already been approved and are set to open for September 2018, it would operate as the first all-through school in Essex.

With a superb selection of both state and private schools available for all ages across the city, as well as excellent higher education facilities at the nearby Anglia Ruskin University and Writtle College, it is easy to see why Chelmsford is an obvious choice for growing families.

New Hall Independent School

Occupying a central and prominent position within the Beaulieu development is New Hall School, a leading Catholic independent boarding and day school. Founded in 1642 and now located within the former Palace of Beaulieu, New Hall is Chelmsford’s only independent senior school. In 2009 and 2010, it was the UK’s top performing co-educational Catholic boarding and day school for A-Level results. Click here for more information.
