BEAULIEU SUPPORTS THE CHELMSFORD SCHOOL SPORT PARTNERSHIP

An exciting new partnership has been established between the Chelmsford School Sport Partnership and Beaulieu, the ground-breaking new residential development by Countryside and L&Q set to transform the city.

Officially launched at Superstars, the annual Olympic style sports event for all Year 4 children across Chelmsford, held at Chelmsford Sports and Athletics Centre on 24, 27 February and 3 March, this unique partnership represents an exciting opportunity to help improve the sporting opportunities available for young people in the area.

Sara Robson, School Games Organiser for the Chelmsford School Sport Partnership comments: “We are delighted to have the support of Beaulieu to help us continue to deliver our ambitious programme to encourage and enable young people in Chelmsford to lead active, healthy physical lifestyles. The two year sponsorship programme will enable us to further develop activities and events for children throughout the area and courses for teachers and coaches.”

Sara continues: “It is particularly appropriate that Beaulieu’s sponsorship is launched at Superstars, as this is one of our largest events of the year, enjoyed by over 2,000 Year 4 pupils from all of the primary schools in Chelmsford. The children have all been given a new sports bag donated by Beaulieu.”

Sara adds: “We have been watching the progress of the Beaulieu development with interest and excitement, and are looking forward to seeing the new community flourish and take advantage of the fantastic parks, open spaces and sporting facilities that will be delivered.”

Andrew Carrington, Managing Director of Strategic Land at Countryside said: “We are delighted to announce Beaulieu’s sponsorship of the Chelmsford School Sport Partnership for the next two years. We are impressed with the vital work Sara Robson and her team carry out to help improve the health, wellbeing and sporting opportunity available to children and young adults. Our vision for Beaulieu is to provide an environment and facilities that will enable people of all ages to live a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.”

Jerome Geoghegan, Group Director, Development and Sales, at L&Q says “Over the next few years Beaulieu will offer more opportunity for sports and recreation through the provision of parks complete with trim trails, public open spaces and primary and secondary schools with sports facilities. Available to the whole community including the Chelmsford School Sport Partnership, these exciting new facilities will help improve people’s overall health and fitness.”

The Chelmsford School Sport Partnership was launched in September 2003. Despite government cutbacks, the Chelmsford Partnership continues to develop and work with all 61 schools in the area, including eight secondary state schools, two special schools and 54 primary schools. The organisation is committed to improving sporting opportunities for young people and meeting the new targets for the School Games programme. It offers support to all schools on competitive high quality PE, leadership opportunities, support for students identified as gifted and talented, coaching, INSET and access to funding.
